# Inviting people with invite codes

Create invite codes so only the people you choose can join your community.

Invite codes let you control exactly who joins. Each code can be used a set number of times.

## Switch on invite-only joining

1. Open Platform Operations, then Settings, then press Advanced policy.
2. Under Registration Method, choose Mode Invite.
3. Press Save Registration Policy.

An **Invite Codes** area now appears on the page.

## Create codes

1. In Invite Codes, press Generate Codes.
2. Choose the Number of Codes you want.
3. Set Max Uses per Code. Leave it blank for no limit.
4. Choose an Expiry Date if you want. Codes stop working at midnight on that date.
5. Add a Note (optional) to remind you who the codes are for.
6. Press Generate.

The new codes appear on screen. Press **Copy All Codes** to copy them, then send them to the people you are inviting. Press **Done** to close.

## Managing codes

The list shows each code and its **Status** , such as **Active** , **Expired** , **Exhausted** (used up) or **Deactivated** . To stop a code working, press the deactivate button next to it.

Share codes privately, for example by email. Anyone who has a working code can join.
