# How do I approve or reject an exchange?

Check an exchange that is waiting for a broker, then approve it or reject it with a reason.

Exchanges waiting for you appear under the **Pending** tab in **Exchanges** .

1. Open Exchanges. The counter Pending broker review shows how many are waiting.
2. Press the Pending tab.
3. Press the view button on a row to open the exchange. Check who the Requester and Provider are, the listing, and any Risk Tag.
4. Press Approve or Reject.

## Approving

Add a note in **Notes (optional)** if it helps, for example "Please meet in a public place for the first session". Press **Approve** to confirm.

Both members are told the exchange is approved and they can begin. Your note appears on their exchange page under **Broker Notes** .

## Rejecting

You must give a reason in **Reason (required)** . Press **Reject** to confirm.

The exchange is cancelled. Both members get a notification that includes your reason. Your reason also appears on their exchange page, under the heading **Broker Notes** . Both members can read it, so write it kindly and plainly.

## Things to know

- You cannot approve or reject an exchange you are part of. Another broker must do it.
- You cannot change the hours or add conditions when you approve. If something needs to change, reject it with a clear reason, or talk to the members before approving.

Before you approve, it helps to look at both members' records and any safeguarding choices they made.
