# How do I approve a new member?

New registrations wait in the Pending tab until a broker or admin approves them.

If your community checks people before they can take part, each new registration waits for approval. You approve them from **Members** or **Onboarding** .

1. Open Members.
2. Press the Pending tab. The red number on Members in the menu shows how many are waiting.
3. Find the person. Press the three-dot menu at the end of their row and choose View details to check their details first.
4. Press the three-dot menu again and choose Approve.
5. Press Approve again to confirm.

The member can now sign in and use the site. They get a welcome email and a notification.

## Starting hours

When you approve someone, the site adds starting hours to their balance. This is 5 hours unless an admin has set a different starting balance. If your admin has set it to 0, no hours are added. Each member only ever gets their starting hours once.

## Approving several people at once

1. On the Pending tab, tick the box next to each person.
2. Press Approve selected.

Starting hours are added for each person you approve this way too. Use this only when you have already checked each person.

## If you do not want to approve someone

There is no reject button in the Broker Panel. Leave the person pending and talk to your admin or your community's lead about what to do. Do not approve someone to "sort it out later".
