# Who can create an event?

In most communities any member can create events, but some keep this for staff.

Your community decides who can create events.

- In most communities, any active member can create an event.
- Some communities only let brokers and administrators create events. A broker is a member of staff who helps members arrange exchanges.
- A few communities only let administrators create events.

## How to tell

If you can create events, you see **Create Event** on the [Events](/events) page and **New Event** under the **+** button at the top of the page.

If your community keeps this for staff, the form shows **Only staff can create Events here** . Ask a community administrator if you would like an event set up.

## Approval

Some communities check new events before anyone else can see them. In that case you press **Submit for review** instead of **Publish event** . Your event shows **Pending review** until an administrator approves it.
