# Accepting or declining a request

What to do when someone asks for an exchange on your listing.

When someone requests an exchange on your listing, you get a notification. The request appears on [My Exchanges](/exchanges) with the label **Respond** .

1. Open the exchange.
2. Read the Proposed Hours and any Message from requester.
3. Press Accept Request to agree, or Decline to say no.

If you decline, you can add a **Reason (optional)** . Then press **Decline Request** . The other member is told.

After you accept, the status becomes **Accepted** . If your community needs broker approval, it shows **Awaiting Broker** first.

To talk about the details before you decide, press **Message** followed by the member's name, if your community has private messages.

Only accept work you are able and willing to do. It is fine to decline.
