# Setting up your profile for the first time

The first time you sign in, a short guided setup helps you add a photo, a few words about you, and your skills.

---

The first time you sign in, you may see a short guided setup called **Get Started** . It helps other members get to know you.

1. Welcome: press Let's Get Started.
2. Profile: add a photo and write a few words in About you. You need both to finish the setup.
3. Skills: under I can offer, choose what you could help with. Under I need help with, choose what you would like help with.
4. Safeguarding: if your community uses this step, you can tell coordinators that you would like extra support. See What are safeguarding preferences? in the Privacy and safety section.
5. Confirm: check the summary under Review Your Setup, then press Complete Setup.

When you finish, you are taken to your dashboard.

In some communities you must finish this setup before you can use the rest of the site. You can change your photo and your introduction later in **Settings** .
