# How do I join?

Create an account with your name, email address and a password. Some communities also ask for an invite code.

You join by creating an account on your community's website. Open [Create your account](/register) .

On a computer you see one form. On a phone the same form is split into four short steps: **Community** , **Details** , **Account** and **Terms** .

1. If you are asked, choose your Community.
2. Choose a Profile Type: Individual, or Organisation if you are joining for a group or charity.
3. Enter your First Name, Last Name, Location and Phone Number.
4. Enter your Email and choose a Password. Type it again in Confirm Password.
5. If your community gave you an invite code, enter it in Invite Code.
6. Read and accept the terms. Ticking this box also confirms that you are 18 or older.
7. Press Create Account.

## About your details

- Your phone number must start with + and your country code. Only the staff who run your community, such as administrators and coordinators (also called brokers), can see it.
- For Location, your town or city is enough. Other members can see what you type here, so do not enter your home address.
- Your password must be at least 12 characters long. A phrase of three or four words is easy to remember and hard to guess.

## If you cannot sign up

Some communities only accept people with an invite code, keep a waiting list, or are not taking new members right now. The sign-up page tells you if this applies. You can [contact the community](/contact) to ask about joining.
