# Giving time, receiving time and adding yourself

Put each person on the right side, and add yourself if you are taking part.

When you add people to a group exchange, you choose which side each one is on.

- Giving time: the person gives their time. They earn credits, so their balance goes up.
- Receiving time: the person receives time. They pay credits, so their balance goes down.

You need at least one person on each side. The page shows how many people are on each side.

In a workshop, the person running it is on **Giving time** and everyone who attends is on **Receiving time** . When a team helps one person, the helpers are on **Giving time** and the person helped is on **Receiving time** .

## Adding yourself

The member search does not show your own name. To take part yourself, use **Add yourself as** on the **Participants** step, and press **Giving time** or **Receiving time** .

For example, if you are leading a workshop, add yourself under **Giving time** . If you are organising help for yourself, add yourself under **Receiving time** .

If you do not add yourself, you organise the exchange but your own balance does not change.

## Before you create it

To take someone off the list, press the cross next to their name.

Everyone under **Receiving time** needs enough time credits in their wallet when the exchange is completed.
