# How do I join a group?

Join a public group straight away, or ask to join a private one.

Open the group and press **Join Group** . What happens next depends on the kind of group.

## Public groups

You join straight away. You can now use all its sections.

## Private groups

Pressing **Join Group** sends a request to the group's managers. You see **Join request submitted** . You are told when a manager accepts you.

While you wait, the button shows **Cancel Join Request** . Press it if you change your mind.

## Secret groups

Secret groups do not appear in the list. You can only join one if a manager invites you.

## What you can see before you join

Before you join, you can see the group's name, description and member count. The posts, discussions, files and other sections are only for members. You see **Members Only** or **Join to see the feed** until you join.

Your community may limit how many groups one member can join. If you reach the limit, you are told when you try to join another.
