# Editing and deleting your messages

Change a message you sent, or remove it for you or for both of you.

You can change or remove messages you have sent.

## Edit a message

1. Point at your message, or press and hold it on a phone, and open the message options.
2. Choose Edit.
3. Change the text and press Save.

You can edit a message for up to 24 hours after you send it. An edited message shows **(edited)** . Voice messages cannot be edited.

## Delete a message

1. Open the message options and choose Delete.
2. Choose one of these:

- Delete for everyone removes the text for both of you. It is replaced by [Message deleted].
- Delete for me hides it from your view only. The other member still sees it.

Press **Cancel** if you change your mind.

Think before you send. The other person may read a message before you edit or delete it.
