# Translating messages

Read messages in your own language, one at a time or for a whole conversation.

If your community uses message translation, you and the other member can each write in your own language.

## Translate one message

Under a message, press **Translate to** followed by your language. The translation appears with a **Translated** label.

Press **View original** to see the words that were sent. Press **Show translation** to switch back.

## Translate a whole conversation

Press the translate button at the top of the conversation. On a phone, open **More options** (three dots) and choose **Translate messages automatically** .

A note says messages are being translated into your language. Press **Turn off** to stop.

The language used is the one you have chosen for this website.

Translations are made automatically by a computer. They can be wrong, especially for names, slang or local words. If something matters, check with the other person.
