# Getting a summary email instead

Choose how often you get summary emails about group activity and suggested matches.

A digest is one email that gathers several updates together, instead of sending one email for each thing.

Open [Settings](/settings) and choose the **Notifications** tab. Then use the settings below, and press **Save Preferences** when you are done.

## Activity in your groups and threads

Find **Activity digest frequency** and choose:

- Off: no digest emails. This is where it starts.
- Instant: an email as things happen
- Daily: one email a day
- Monthly: one email a month

Direct messages, connection requests and confirmations about time credits are not held back for a digest.

## Suggested matches

If your community uses listings, find **Match Digest Emails** . Under **Digest Frequency** , choose **Daily** , **Fortnightly** , **Monthly** or **Never** .

You can also turn on **Hot Match Alerts** , for very good matches, and **Mutual Match Alerts** , for when someone you matched with also matches with you.

## A monthly summary

Turn on **Monthly Digest** to get a monthly summary of what is happening in your community.
