# What is the bell at the top of the screen?

The bell shows your notifications, such as new messages and replies. A number shows how many are unread.

---

The bell at the top of the screen shows your notifications. A number on it tells you how many you have not read yet.

Press the bell to see your latest notifications. Press one to go to the page it is about. Press **View all notifications** to open the full list.

On a phone, you can also press **Menu** . The number next to **Alerts** shows your unread notifications. Press it to open them.

## On the Notifications page

On the [Notifications](/notifications) page you can:

- switch between All and Unread
- press Mark all read to clear the unread count
- delete a notification you no longer need. If you delete one by mistake, press Undo straight away.
- press Settings to choose which notifications you get

While you are using the site, some notifications also appear as a small pop-up, for example when a new message arrives.
