# Can I change my email address?

You cannot change your email address yourself. Your community's administrators can change it for you.

At the moment you cannot change the email address on your account yourself. This protects your account, because changing the email address is a common way for someone else to take over an account.

Your community's administrators can change it for you. [Contact your community](/contact) and tell them:

- your name
- the email address you use now
- the new email address you want to use

They may ask you some questions to check that the request really comes from you.

## If you have lost access to your old email

You can still sign in with your password. But you cannot use **Forgot password?** until your email address is updated, so contact your community as soon as you can.

Never share your password, even with someone who says they are from your community. Coordinators and administrators do not need your password to help you.
