# What if someone else has got into my account?

Change your password straight away, which signs your account out everywhere. Then check your security settings.

---

If you think someone else has used your account, act quickly.

1. Change your password. Open Settings, choose the Security tab and press Change Password. This signs your account out on your other devices.
2. If you cannot sign in, use Forgot password? to set a new password. This also signs your account out everywhere.
3. Look at Active Sessions on the Security tab. It lists the browsers and devices that have been signed in, and when each was last used.
4. Turn on two-step verification, if your community offers it. See Turning on two-step verification.
5. Check your passkeys, if you have any. Remove any you do not recognise.
6. If you already use two-step verification, press Forget all trusted devices, so every device must enter a code again.
7. Tell your community. Contact them, so a coordinator can check for anything unusual, such as messages or time credits sent from your account.

## Protect your account in future

- Use a password that you do not use anywhere else.
- Never share your password or your codes with anyone.
- Sign out when you use a shared computer.
- Be careful with emails that ask you to sign in. Check the website address before you type your password.
