# How do I delete my account?

You can permanently delete your account from Settings. This cannot be undone.

You can delete your account yourself. This is permanent and cannot be undone.

## Before you delete

- If you want to keep a copy of your data, download it first. See How do I download my data?
- Any time credits left in your wallet are not paid out or passed to anyone. If you would like them to go to another member, send them before you delete your account.
- Finish or cancel any exchanges you have agreed with other members.

## Delete your account

1. Open Settings and choose the Security tab.
2. Under Account Actions, press Delete Account. You can also find Delete your account on the Privacy tab.
3. Type the word DELETE in the box.
4. Enter your Current Password.
5. Press Delete My Account.

You are signed out, and an email is sent to confirm that your account has been deleted.

## What happens to your information

Your name, contact details, profile, photo, active listings and preferences are removed or made anonymous. The words of messages you wrote are removed, but the other person keeps an anonymous record of the conversation. Records of past exchanges and time credits are kept without your name, because other members' records depend on them.
